Senior forward Niki Reams earned Kodak/WBCA All-American honors for the second straight season. The announcement of the team of 10 players was made at the Elite Eight banquet Tuesday night in Hot Springs, Ark.
Reams, the two-time NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region and GLIAC Tournament MVP, leads Grand Valley State in scoring (17.2), rebounding (7.0), steals (2.1), and shooting percentage (51.1%). She has scored 1,179 points in just two seasons with the Lakers.
Niki was also named to the Daktronics, Inc., NCAA Division II Women's Basketball All-American First Team. Last season, she earned Daktronics, Inc. All-American Third Team honors. This season, Reams earned Daktronics, Inc. Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, Daktronics, Inc. First Team All-Region, GLIAC Player of the Year, All-GLIAC North Division First Team, and All-GLIAC North Division All-Defensive First Team plaudits.
Reams has scored in double figures in 23 games and has posted six double-doubles this season. Niki is coming off a season-high 34 point, nine rebound, and three assist performance in the Great Lakes Region Championship game as GVSU knocked off #1 seed Drury, 91-76. Grand Valley advanced to the Elite Eight for the second straight season and will play Charleston on Wednesday, March 22 at 8:00 p.m. CT.
