Springfield, Mo. - Grand Valley State University saw its season come to an end after a 5-0 loss to #4 Drury on Saturday, May 10. The Lakers, ranked 42nd in Division II coming into the match, end the season with a record of 20-6 and advanced all the way to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling.
Drury swept the doubles matches to go up 3-0 early on. Tony Dang and Patrick Polus played in the number one spot, falling 8-1. Patrick Troy and Renato Tamashiro suffered the same fate in the number two doubles spot, while Matt Globerson and Alex Switzer went down 8-2 at third doubles.
In singles play, only two matches went the distance, as the others were cut short when Drury had won the required five points to advance. Tamashiro fell 6-1, 6-2 in the number two spot, while Switzer went down 6-2, 6-1 at number five. The four remaining singles competitions were not finished.
